ABVP’s national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki, along with national secretary Shivangi Kharwal, state secretary Sarthak Sharma, and the DUSU central panel candidates, were present on the occasion of releasing the manifesto.
The ABVP manifesto for the DUSU elections includes promises of ensuring subsidised health insurance schemes for students, increased budgets for registered academic, social, and cultural societies across colleges, to make available adequate sports equipment and proper nutrition for students interested in sports, accessibility audits to make campuses more inclusive for specially-abled students, and free Wi-Fi access for university students.
It also promises construction of new hostels to accommodate more students on the campus, research facilities, and student funds for final-year research scholars, timely declaration of examination results within fixed deadlines, and promotion of East and West campuses in line with North and South campuses, among others.
On September 11, the ABVP officially announced its central panel of candidates for the DUSU elections.
The panel features Aryan Maan for the post of President, Govind Tanwar for Vice President, Kunal Chaudhary for Secretary, and Deepika Jha for Joint Secretary.
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) released its manifesto on Friday, making key promises on rolling back fee hikes, menstrual leave for women students, and safer campuses.
The Congress-supported student body also unveiled a separate women’s manifesto and fielded 23-year-old Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, a postgraduate student of Buddhist Studies, as its presidential candidate — the first woman in 17 years to be nominated for the top post by NSUI.
The result of the university polls will be declared on September 19.
