Three months after seven assault rifles were stolen by a security guard from the residence of a PDP legislator in Srinagar’s Jawahar Nagar colony, four AK-47 rifles went missing on Sunday from the residence of a former Congress legislator in the same locality.

Four AK-47 assault rifles have gone missing from the official residence of Muzaffar Parray, former MLC of Congress, confirmed the police.

These rifles were missing from the guard room of the former legislator at his residence at Jawahar Nagar which is a government colony for senior officers and legislators.

All four policemen posted on security duty at his residence have been taken to the police station for questioning.

The Police said that it was a serious matter and was being investigated.

It is worth mentioning that a special police officer (SPO) had three months ago deserted with nine weapons, including seven AK-47, one INSAS, and a pistol, from the residence of PDP legislator Aijaz Mir who is the next door neighbour of the MLC from whose house four assault rifles were stolen on Sunday.

The SPO who stole the nine weapons has reportedly joined terrorist ranks.
