During a surprise check, the railway staff of the Jammu Division on Tuesday apprehended 31 people travelling without tickets in the semi-high speed premium Vande Bharat train.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, said these passengers did not possess valid tickets or travel authority.

A fine of Rs 80,000 was recovered from these passengers who were travelling between Jammu and Ludhiana in the Vande Bharat Train No. 22478.

Singhal stated, “The railways encourage passengers to travel with valid tickets, especially on premium trains, as the penalty for ticketless travel on premium trains like Vande Bharat is higher compared to regular trains.”
