Multiple landslides triggered by incessant rains blocked the strategic Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Saturday.
In a tragic incident, a devastating fire in the Ramsoo area of the Ramban district of the Jammu region on Monday claimed the lives of three minor sisters, according to official sources.
The victims have been identified as Sanya Latife (9), Saika Banoo (15), and Bisma Banu (17), daughters of Abdul Latief Lone of Taj Nihaal village.
The girls were asleep past midnight when the fire broke out in their home, resulting in a tragic loss of lives.
Although efforts were made by the fire service department, police, and locals to extinguish the flames, the house also could not be saved.
A police officer confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident and a case has been registered.
The entire community is mourning the loss of these young girls in this unfortunate tragedy.
The district administration has provided immediate relief of Rs 3 lakh to the aggrieved family. Further compensation and support will be provided as per the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms.
