Three people died after falling into a tank while cleaning the effluent treatment plant (ETP) at Uttam Sugar Mill’s Barkatpur facility here on Friday, police said.

Three people died after falling into a tank while cleaning the effluent treatment plant (ETP) at Uttam Sugar Mill’s Barkatpur facility here on Friday, police said.
Among the deceased are two labourers and their supervisor. Another worker sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.

The police have launched a probe into the incident.

The victims have been identified as Kapil Dev (40) from Tisautra village; Muneshwar (45), the supervisor from Kaboolpur; and Saupal (49) from Lalpur. All three reportedly fell into the tank and died on the spot.
As news of the accident spread, distraught family members gathered at the site.
Authorities have said that necessary legal action will be taken once a formal complaint is filed.
Meanwhile, locals and the victims’ families are urging authorities to provide adequate compensation for those who lost their lives.
