Odisha: British-era Dak Bungalow set to be consigned to history
The Dak Bungalow, built in the old township of Bhubaneswar during the colonial era, is set to be demolished to make way for the construction of a Kalyan Mandap (marriage hall).

The Cabinet approved the proposal for the framing of the Odisha ex-Agniveers (recruitment to Uniform Services) Rules, 2024 for job reservation in uniformed services of the State for Agniveers after completion of their service, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja said.
The proposed rules aim to provide ample opportunities to ex-Agniveer in uniform services like Police, Forest, Excise, Fire or any services decided by the Government from time to time by providing 10 per cent horizontal reservation for ex-Agniveer in all Group “C” and “D” posts in direct recruitment in the Uniform Services of the State, a statement issued by the Government noted.

Such reservation shall be over and above the reservation applicable for ex-servicemen provided that they must fulfill the required minimum qualifications prescribed for the posts in the relevant recruitment rules as on the date of award of Agniveer certificate.
There will be three years’ age relaxation in the prescribed upper age limit for ex-Agniveers in all Group “C” and “D” posts in direct recruitment in the Uniform Service of the State. Besides, the ex-Agniveers will be exempt from the physical efficiency test as part of the recruitment process, the statement concluded.
