The Election Commission of India (ECI) Sunday reported a substantial response to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive in Bihar, with over 1.6 lakh claims and objections received from various stakeholders.
In its daily press update, the EC said that a total of 1,60,813 claims and objections have been received from national parties, including, Bharatiya Janata Party (53,338), Indian National Congress (17,549), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist)(899).

As regards the state parties, a total of 87,545 claims and objections have been received, including, Janata Dal (United) (36,550), Rashtriya Janata Dal (47,506), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (1,210).
There were 8,341 claims and objections received directly from electors regarding inclusion of eligible electors and exclusion of ineligible electors.
Also, 46,588 forms have been received from new electors who have attained 18 years of age or above
As per the rules, claims and objections are to be disposed of by the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) after verifying eligibility documents. No name can be deleted from the draft list published on August 1, 2025, without passing a speaking order by the ERO/AERO after conducting an inquiry and providing a fair and reasonable opportunity to the affected parties, the ECI said.
