The Exhibitions India Group will be organising its 10th
Krackerjack Karnival at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, on 10 and 11
December to bring together a focused and targeted audience in an informal,
educational and festive setting. This one-of-a kind event is India’s first and
foremost mega expo-cum-festival, catering purely to children and their needs
packed with fantastic exhibits, interactive activities, entertainment, and the
latest products and services. Known for introducing novel and exciting ideas
with its each edition, this year the Karnival will launch its wellness corner at
the festival showcasing the best of health and solutions not only for kids but
for the entire family.

Chandrika Behl, founder, Krackerjack Karnival and director,
Exhibitions India Group shares more insight about the event and it’s enriching
experience. Excerpts from an interview:

 Q What is the Krackerjack Karnival all about?

This is a festival where you get to experience multiple
exciting activities like meet and greet with kids, favourite cartoon characters
live on stage, interactive workshops, cool rides, entertaining acts, shopping
with latest products and services on display, scrumptious delicacies to fill
your tummy and so much more all under one-roof. It is the only kids and family
festival in the country which gives you three full days of fantastic activities
and entertainment, shopping content and amazing food all hosted in a well
organised ambiance.

Our aim is to provide the perfect family day out for
visitors where they can spend quality time together. For children we seek to
give them an opportunity to try out various new activities in a fun and casual
atmosphere with experienced instructors. Our non-stop stage performances give
them a chance to see/meet/greet with their favourite cartoon characters whether
it’s Chhota Bheem or Shiva, etc. Of course, there’s lot more to do and see at
the event, but the basic idea is to give the children a truly memorable
experience that they can take away with them. For our exhibitors and sponsors,
we aim to provide a perfect platform to connect with thousands of qualified
families giving them the ideal opportunity to interact directly with their
consumer base and promote the brand.

 Q Do you think initiatives like these will make people come
up with more innovative ideas?

Absolutely! Since our show there have been several others
that came up, some successful, some not. But in general we welcome the
competition as this market growing benefits everyone.

Q What are the tradeoffs you had to face so far?

Like any working mother knows, it is a very difficult and
delicate balance to maintain between children and work. There are so many
tradeoffs as the list is endless. But along with the guilt of falling short
comes a greater determination to do better and more.

 Q Do you follow any specific themes to cater to?

The overall theme for KKJ is “Shop Play Learn” and that
encompasses the show quite well. We do have a separate focus on each show, with
each addition we try and introduce something new and original that will delight
our audience and give them an unforgettable experience. In our past editions we
had a separate maternity zone introduced for young and new mothers. Wildlife
awareness is another facet that we have been incorporating in each of our
events for the last three editions, which received a great response from not
just kids, but parents too. This year as well, we are introducing Krackerjack
Wellness promoting healthy well-being for the entire family. A distinct
wellness corner will be set up at the festival showcasing the solutions not
only for kids, but the entire family. This aims to popularise all forms of
natural, organic and healthy ways of living, especially considering the growing
awareness among families to maintain a healthy lifestyle. 

Q As the strategic vision of the company, how do you plan on
delivering a memorable experience to families?

Our unique selling proposition is that we provide a gamut of
amazing activities, entertainment and shopping for the latest products and
service — all on a single platform. We provide a family-friendly event and a carnival
like experience, which is convenient, fun and engaging for young and old. The
icing on the cake is that we aim to provide something new and exciting with
each edition. This year for instance we are launching a new event within KKJ,
which is Krackerjack Wellness. It is a full-fledged exhibition showcasing
products and services for the wellness of the entire family. For us it’s all
about creating these magical experiences.

 Q What are your upcoming plans?

Go bigger is what we are aiming at in the coming years. We
already have a presence in India’s major metros with editions in Delhi,
Bengaluru and Gurgaon. But 2017 will be more special for us, as we will be
launching the Pune edition in January which also happens to be our 11th
edition. The growth plan won’t be limited to escalate the number of editions,
but increase interesting activities, thrilling rides, innovative and exclusive
brands on display, and new verticals. The idea is to make it more exhilarating
and groundbreaking with each edition.
