As Student of the Year completes 7 years, Varun Dhawan and Karan Johar put out emotional posts reliving the memories gone by.

Varun Dhawan took to his official Instagram handle to share a video collage that featured some glimpses from the film. He captioned the clip, “#7yearsofsoty. 7 years of this life changing film. Thank [email protected] 2020 me t 20 Khelengaa aur L*L* ( this message is cryptic the name of my next film is in this caption).”

He later deleted the post and shared a solo picture of himself from the film with a caption that read, “STUDENT OF THE YEAR #tbt.”

On a more nostalgic note, producer-filmmaker Karan Johar called Alia his daughter, and thanked Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra for their support.

“7 years ago I made a film and a family…..a family I can proudly call my own…. I look back at SOTY with abundant love in my heart…thank you @aliaabhatt for being my daughter …for your infectious love and your large heart..for just being YOU!” He wrote for Alia.

While thanking Varun Dhawan, he said, “thank you @varundvn for being there for me always …for having my back and calling me at odd hours to tell me what “not to do”…for your pure heart…I love you!”

“Thank you @sidmalhotra for your compassion and sensitivity for also being the silent strong energy in my life….for giving me a shoulder whenever I needed a good cry! Love you! Love you three to the moon and back!! #7yearsofSOTY,” he added.

Student of the Year was a coming-of-age romantic comedy directed by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. The film was a debut film for Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan.

This was Karan Johar’s first and only directorial venture that did not feature Shah Rukh Khan.

Student of the Year released on 19 October 2012 and became one of the highest grosser of 2012.
