Television actor Ashish Kapoor was remanded to four-day police custody after his arrest by the Delhi Police on Wednesday following an allegation of rape by a woman, officials said on Thursday.
The 24-year-old survivor has alleged that the accused committed the crime during a house party at the Civil Lines.

“The matter came to light in the early hours of August 11 when the survivor alleged that Ashish assaulted her inside a washroom amidst a house party in the city in the second week of August,” Raja Banthia, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said in a statement.
According to the police, the complainant was invited to a party hosted by Kapoor and his friends, where her drink was spiked with some narcotic substance. As she lost conscious, she was raped by a group of men and was physically attacked by a woman.
“She further alleged that the entire incident was filmed by the group men. They threatened to make the video clip viral online if she disclosed the matter to the police,” DCP said.
Officer Banthia, adding to his statement, said that the survivor, a Gurugram-based professional, initially alleged in her complaint that multiple men raped her, only to change the narrative later accusing only Kapoor of raping her.
With this information, a case was registered on August 11 and an investigation initiated.
“We received intel about his (the accused’s) movements in Goa initially; however, he managed to escape from there,” an officer said on condition of anonymity.
“With the team on the lookout for him, he was initially traced to Goa. But when the team arrived in Goa, he gave them a slip. He was then traced to Pune, where he was found with a friend and was arrested on Tuesday,” the officer said.
“The complainant woman alleged that Ashish assaulted her inside a bathroom during a house party in Delhi in the second week of August,” the officer added.
