Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi came in support of filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani who has been accused of sexual assault by a woman. The actor who has worked with Hirani in 3 Idiots believes that the director is “a man of immense integrity, character, honour.”

On Monday, Joshi took to Twitter and shared a note showing his support for Rajkumar Hirani.

“Raju Sir is a man of immense integrity, character, honour, compassion and truthfulness, all the virtues one would imagine are non-existent in people today, someone I am absolutely inspired by and have learnt from and because of whom I believe I have gone onto being a better person. All I want to say, Sir is that this too shall pass,” he wrote on Twitter.

The 3 Idiots actor also added a hashtag at the end that read ‘I Stand For Raju Hirani.’

On the other hand, Arshad Warsi too addressed the issue in his recent interview with Zoom TV, wherein he said that the news came as a shocker for him.

“If you talk to me about Raju Hirani as a person, as a personality and how he is, I think he is a wonderful person and a thorough gentleman. So, for me, It’s a shocker as it is for everybody else who has heard this news,” he said.

Actress Dia Mirza too spoke about the sexual assault allegations against Hirani to Pinkvilla and said, “I am deeply distressed by this news. As someone who has known and respect Raju Sir for 15 years, I can only hope that a due official enquiry is conducted. He is one of the most decent human beings I have ever worked with and I think it would be grossly unjust on my part to speak on this as I do not know the details.”

On 13 January, a woman alleged that Rajkumar Hirani sexually abused her on multiple occasions during the six-month period between March and September 2018, according to Huffington Post.

She sent an email dated 3 November 2018, addressing co-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama Chopra, Shelly Chopra, and scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi – all of whom were associated with the film Sanju, which was then in the post-production phase.

However, Rajkumar Hirani has denied all the allegations through his lawyer Anand Desai. The lawyer spoke to publication saying, “At the outset, our client states that the allegations made against him are false, mischievous, scandalous, motivated and defamatory.”
