In Madurai, a fan’s devotion to Superstar Rajinikanth has taken celebration to a whole new level. To mark 50 glorious years of the Tamil cinema legend, a man named Karthik transformed the ‘Arulmigu Sri Rajini Temple’ dedicated to Rajinikanth into a sea of memories, decorating it with over 5,500 photographs of the actor.

The temple, dedicated entirely to Rajinikanth, was adorned with images from his films and various moments of his career. Karthik, along with his family, also performed ‘abhishekam’, a ritual bathing ceremony, offering prayers just as one would to a deity.

Rajinikanth’s career began in 1975 with the Tamil film ‘Apoorva Raagangal’, directed by K. Balachander. Even in his debut, his screen presence stood out. Over the years, he became known for his unique style, punchy dialogues, and larger-than-life portrayals. His films like ‘Sivaji: The Boss’, ‘Robot’, ‘2.0’, ‘Thalapathy’, and ‘Jailer’ have achieved cult status, drawing audiences not just in India but around the world.

Now 74, Rajinikanth continues to lead major film projects, proving age is no barrier when passion is this strong. His golden jubilee year comes after the success of ‘Vettaiyan’, directed by T. J. Gnanavel, which featured an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati. The film received praise for its performances and storytelling.

Looking ahead, fans are eagerly waiting for ‘Coolie’, Rajinikanth’s next big project with hitmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie is already creating a buzz, not just because of Rajinikanth’s presence, but also for its impressive cast; Kannada superstar Upendra, Bollywood’s Aamir Khan, and Telugu icon Nagarjuna Akkineni. Set for release on August 14, 2025, the film is expected to be a massive pan-India event.
