Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal engaged: The DY Patil Stadium has seen many magical cricket moments, but this one wasn’t about a trophy. It was about love. Days after India lifted the Women’s World Cup there, the floodlights shone on a different kind of celebration. Smriti Mandhana, still blindfolded from a playful surprise, was gently guided to the middle of the pitch and when she opened her eyes, she found singer-composer Palash Muchhal kneeling with a ring, waiting for her answer.

And just like that, the stadium where she scripted cricketing glory also became the place where she said yes to a new innings of life.

The dreamy proposal at the stadium

The moment was straight out of a movie. Smriti walked onto the pitch thinking it was a fun team activity only to find Palash waiting for her. He didn’t choose a fancy set or a private corner. He chose the pitch; her favourite place, the heart of her career. As Palash slipped the ring onto her finger, the few people on the field burst into cheers and the World Cup venue gained a new story to tell.

Jemimah’s reel that broke the internet

Smriti confirmed the engagement in the most Gen-Z way possible with an Instagram reel full of laughter and pure chaos. Her teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy joined her as they grooved to ‘Samjho Ho Hi Gaya’ from ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’. The video ended with Smriti showing off her ring with a shy smile.

Meanwhile, Smriti continues to be in top form, fresh off her superb ICC Women’s ODI World Cup run, where she smashed 434 runs in nine innings with an average of 54.22 including a thrilling century against New Zealand.
