Global icon Priyanka Chopra found herself embroiled in controversy after her comments at the Beautycon in Los Angeles.

After a Pakistani woman from the audience, Ayesha Malik, questioned the actor about her tweets from February 2019, after the Balakot strike in Pakistan, Priyanka asked her not to ‘yell’ and that ‘we’re all here for love’.

In a series of tweets that she put on Twitter, Ayesha these levelled these charges against Priyanka Chopra.

“Hi, I’m the girl that “yelled” at Priyanka Chopra. It was hard listening to her say, “we should be neighbors and love each other” — swing that advice over to your PM. Both India and Pakistan were in danger. And instead she tweeted out in favor for nuclear war.”

She said, “If speaking on a humanitarian crisis is ‘venting'” she apologizes.

“Whenever you’re don’t venting”. Sorry, didn’t realize that speaking on a humanitarian crisis was “venting”, Ayesha’s tweet read.

Priyanka Chopra had saluted the Indian Armed Forces after Indian planes dropped bombs in Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan in response to the Pulwama attack on February 14 attack that killed over 40 CRPF personnel in the state of J-K.

Ayesha further wrote, “Priyanka Chopra tweeted during a time when we were this close to sending nukes to one another. Instead of advocating for peace she tweeted in support of the Indian army”.

At the event in Los Angeles, Ayesha had called Chopra a “hypocrite” for supporting the Indian Army.

Priyanka had responded, “Are you done venting? War is not something I’m really fond of but I am patriotic, so I’m sorry if I hurt sentiments to people who do love me and have loved me. But I think that all of us have a middle ground that we all have to walk. Just like you probably do as well. The way that you came at me right now… girl, don’t yell. We’re all here for love.”

Following the controversy, a massive uproar erupted on social media. Netizens were divided over the episode, while some lauded Priyanka’s efforts, others criticised her.

For her tweet in February, Priyanka had also drawn social media ire for lauding military efforts despite being a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
