Renowned filmmaker Aanand L Rai is gearing up for an exciting venture into the world of OTT (over-the-top) platforms with his debut web production. Breaking away from the prevailing trend of mystery and thriller series, Rai is determined to offer viewers a fresh perspective through a romance-drama show.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Rai emphasized his desire to present something novel to audiences, distinct from the current landscape of OTT content. “While there are amazing thrillers and mysteries out there, I’m eager to explore uncharted territory. I want to introduce viewers to a world they haven’t experienced on OTT before,” he shared during an interview at FICCI Frames 2024.
Acknowledging the shift in storytelling dynamics between films and series, Rai highlighted the need for a deeper understanding of the streaming medium before embarking on this new journey. “Creating content for OTT demands a different approach. It’s character-driven with a larger plot and arc compared to films,” he explained.

Despite initial reservations, Rai has embraced the challenge, emphasizing the importance of learning and growth. “I’ve realized the distinction between the two mediums, but mere awareness isn’t sufficient. I need to immerse myself in this new realm,” he added.
While Rai keeps the details of his upcoming show under wraps, he assured fans of his signature touch of romance and drama, promising an engaging narrative experience. Meanwhile, on the film front, Rai is ready to commence filming for his next directorial venture, ‘Tere Ishk Mein,’ in mid-2024, marking his third collaboration with actor Dhanush after the acclaimed ‘Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Atrangi Re.’
