In the wake of the horrific Kathua, Unnao rape cases involving minors, the film fraternity has been raising a voice in support of justice for the victims. Celebrities such as Javed Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, Farhan Akhtar took to social media to condemn the gut-wrenching incidents.
An 8-year-old girl’s body was recovered from Rassana forest in Kathua district of Jammu on 17 January, a week after she went missing while grazing horses in the forest area. She was held captive inside a temple and was sedated before being raped and murdered.
In the other case the alleged gang rape of a girl by a BJP legislator and others, and the death of her father in police custody has come to light in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.
