Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan

Timothée Chalamet has stepped into the shoes, or rather, the era, of Bob Dylan as he embarks on his latest cinematic journey. The 28-year-old actor was recently captured on the set of James Mangold’s eagerly anticipated biopic of Bob Dylan, “A Complete Unknown,” in New York City.

In a series of snapshots, Chalamet exuded the essence of Dylan, clad in quintessential ’60s attire. With a weathered guitar case in hand, he traversed the city streets sporting jeans, a green jacket, an orange scarf, and a paperboy hat, topped off with a sizable yellow backpack. The scene was further enriched by the presence of a retro-style car, perfectly setting the stage for the film’s narrative.

Mangold’s biopic on Bob Dylan promises an exploration of Dylan’s pivotal transition to the electric guitar during the tumultuous ’60s, tracing his evolution into a folk music icon. While details remain scarce, it’s confirmed that Chalamet will lend his voice to the role, a task he undertakes following his musical exploits in “Wonka.”

Reflecting on the significance of Dylan’s ascent, Mangold shared, “It’s such an amazing time in American culture… First being embraced into a family of folk music in New York and of course kind of outrunning him at a certain point as his star rises so beyond belief.”

Joining Chalamet on this cinematic journey are Edward Norton, portraying folk singer Pete Seeger, and Elle Fanning, who takes on the role of Dylan’s love interest, Sylvie Russo. Norton stepped into the role after Benedict Cumberbatch had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.

Chalamet’s dedication to embodying Dylan’s essence extends beyond the set, as evidenced by his visit to Dylan’s high school in Hibbing, Minnesota, earlier this year. Engaging with students and immersing himself in the world of theater, Chalamet left an indelible impression on the drama department, inspiring them as they prepared for their own productions.

As anticipation mounts for “A Complete Unknown,” fans eagerly await the unveiling of Chalamet’s portrayal of the legendary musician, poised to capture the essence of a transformative era in American music.
