Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan is ready to show a new side of herself to the world. In a recent interview, the 38-year-old star shared how she has often been stuck playing the same type of roles, and now she wants to break that pattern.

Lohan, who started acting when she was just 10, became a household name after starring in the 1998 Disney hit ‘The Parent Trap’. The film was a big success and opened the door to more roles in teen comedies like ‘Freaky Friday’ and ‘Mean Girls’.

But as time passed, she felt like people only saw her as the same fun, quirky character again and again.

In a conversation with ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, Lindsay Lohan admitted that she stepped away from the spotlight between 2013 and 2022 to focus on her personal life.

“I was losing that feeling of excitement about doing a film,” she said. “And I wanted to live my own life for a bit, figure out how to have a more private life, a real life. I wanted to wait to get that itch again.”

Now, she says she’s ready. With her return to movies, she wants people to see more than just the rom-com star they’re used to. “I do feel pigeonholed,” she said. “Even today, I have to fight for serious roles. It’s frustrating because I know I can do more, but people only want to see me as the character I played years ago.”

One of the roles she’s most proud of is in ‘A Prairie Home Companion’, a film that showed a different side of her acting skills.

“I was so happy to work on that. But even now, I still have to prove that I can do those kinds of roles. I want to break that cycle,” she said.

Lohan’s fans will soon see her back in a familiar setting with the upcoming sequel ‘Freakier Friday’, where she’ll reunite with Jamie Lee Curtis. But beyond that, she’s looking forward to more challenging roles. At the film’s Los Angeles premiere, Lohan said she hopes to explore drama and action films in the future.

“I love romantic comedies because that’s where I started, and my fans love them. But I’d also like to do something different, maybe something action-packed or a serious drama. I want to surprise people,” she said.

She’s also stepping into the role of producer with the upcoming Hulu series ‘Count My Lies’, which she’s both starring in and producing.

“I want to open new doors for myself,” she said. “And if someone like Martin Scorsese calls, of course I won’t say no!”
