Veteran actor-comedian Kader Khan died on 1 January after a prolonged illness at the age of 81. The film fraternity mourned the loss of the actor and paid their respect on social media.

Bollywood actor Govinda, who worked with Kader Khan in multiple films in the ’90s, took to Twitter and gave a tribute to the actor. He went on record calling him a father figure.

“RIP Kader Khan Saab. He was not just my “ustaad” but a father figure to me, his midas touch and his aura made every actor he worked with a superstar. The entire film industry and my family deeply mourns this loss and we cannot express the sorrow in words. #ripkaderkhansaab,” the tweet read.

In a recent interview with IANS, the actor’s son Sarfaraz was asked about Govinda’s statement. He revealed that the Naseeb actor did not even bother to call them after his father’s death.

“Please ask Govinda how many times he enquired about his father figure’s health. Has he even bothered to call us even once after my father’s passing away? This is the way our film industry has become,” Sarfaraz said.

“There are no real feelings for those who have contributed to Indian cinema when they’re no longer active. The top guns may be seen getting clicked with these retired veterans. But the affection goes only as far as photographs. No more. Look at the condition in which Lalita Pawarji and Mohan Chotiji died,” he added.

Kader Khan had developed breathing issues and the doctors had reportedly transferred him from regular ventilator to BiPAP ventilator. Reportedly, Khan was suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a degenerative disease that causes loss of balance, difficulty in walking and dementia.
