In a candid interview, Vicky revealed that his initial involvement stemmed from a conversation with his father, Sham Kaushal, who was working on the film’s action sequences. Upon learning that the character Sukhi, portrayed by Vicky, was for a fiery scene, Sham inquired about the actor cast for the role. Hirani expressed interest in someone like Vicky but hadn’t offered the part, deeming it minor.
Upon hearing about this exchange, Vicky wasted no time. He promptly reached out to Hirani, expressing his eagerness to take on the role, even if it meant a brief appearance. Reflecting on the spontaneity of his decision, Vicky admitted to agreeing without even hearing the script, demonstrating his trust in Hirani’s vision.
Despite his limited involvement in the project, Vicky’s dedication and conviction shone through. The actor’s commitment paid off when Dunki hit theaters worldwide on December 21, 2023. The film’s box office success surpassed expectations, grossing an impressive ₹418–470.6 crore globally, far exceeding its production and marketing budget of ₹120 crore.
