Ranveer Singh, one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, made headlines in 2022 when he parted ways with Yash Raj Films (YRF), the production house that gave him his big break. Now, YRF’s casting director and Ranveer’s close friend, Shanoo Sharma, has finally spoken about his exit.
In a recent chat with ‘The Hollywood Reporter India’, Shanoo said she wasn’t hurt by Ranveer’s decision to leave the banner. “It didn’t hurt that he left,” she said. “He’s going ahead with his life, and I wish him all the best.”

Shanoo explained that there must have been a reason why Ranveer Singh made this choice and added that YRF, too, had no issue with his departure. “There’s a reason why he must be going, and there’s a reason why the production house is okay with him going,” she said.
Ranveer Singh was discovered by Shanoo and launched by YRF boss Aditya Chopra in 2010 with ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’. The film became a hit and turned Ranveer into an overnight star. Over the next 12 years, he worked in several projects with YRF, including ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’, ‘Befikre’, and ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’. He also made a short but powerful appearance in ‘Singham Again’.
Talking about the nature of the film industry, Shanoo said things change all the time. “I feel things work, and then they fade, and then they start to work again. The cycle goes on,” she said. She also added that there was no bad blood between them. “He’s my best friend as well, so there’s nothing difficult on that front.”
In 2022, Ranveer signed with Collective Artists Network, the same talent agency that manages his wife, Deepika Padukone. Since then, he has been exploring new projects and partnerships outside YRF.
Now 40, Ranveer is gearing up for his next big movie ‘Dhurandhar’, an action-packed spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar. The film is going to hit cinemas on December 5, 2025.
