It’s been 27 years since ‘Dulhe Raja’ had audiences laughing in cinema halls across India, and Raveena Tandon is feeling nostalgic.
Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a heartfelt post marking the film’s anniversary, along with a couple of throwback stills and a recent photo with her iconic co-star, Govinda.

“27 years of Dulhe Raja!!!! Fun Fun and more Fun! Miss Harmeshji, Kader bhai and all those who were there in this incredible film!” Raveena wrote, remembering late director Harmesh Malhotra and actor Kader Khan with affection.
Released in 1998, ‘Dulhe Raja’ brought together a cast that perfectly balanced comedy and chaos. Govinda played the street-smart Raja, who sets up a modest fast food joint right in front of a swanky five-star hotel owned by the haughty Singhania, played by Kader Khan.
Naturally, the situation snowballs into a full-blown rivalry. But things take an unexpected turn when Singhania’s daughter, Kiran (played by Raveena), falls for Raja.
Directed by Harmesh Malhotra and written by Rajeev Kaul, the film is popular as a classic Govinda comedy; full of one-liners, quirky characters, and the signature song-and-dance routines that defined late ’90s Bollywood.
The ensemble cast also featured comedy veterans like Johnny Lever, Asrani, Prem Chopra, Dinesh Hingoo, and Viju Khote.
Behind the scenes, the movie had Shyam Rao Shiposkar handling the cinematography. Govind Dalwadi was on the edit table, and the Anand–Milind duo composed its foot-tapping soundtrack.
Beyond the silver screen, Raveena Tandon has been in the news recently for her continued work off-screen. In June, she was honoured by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for her contributions to environmental and social causes. The felicitation took place on World Environment Day.
