Veteran filmmaker and producer Mahesh Bhatt is all ready to present his upcoming film ‘Tu Meri Poori Kahani’, which releases on September 26, 2025. As he gears up for the release, he shared some thoughts about how the younger generation is shaping the future of cinema.
Speaking in an interaction ahead of the film’s release, Bhatt said he strongly believes that the present time is the “age of reverse mentoring.”

According to him, instead of only seniors guiding juniors, it is equally important for experienced filmmakers to learn from the fresh energy and perspectives of the youth.
In his words, “In this film, I had two lieutenants, two gladiators. One is the director of ‘Tu Meri Poori Kahani’, Suhrita Das, and the other is the lyricist, Shweta Bothra. I call Shweta the Shailendra of her generation. Her writing style carries the same depth and simplicity, though it is not imitation but her own original voice.”
Bhatt explained that young talent often brings clarity, honesty, and sharp feedback, which can be a guiding light for veterans. “To excel and bring the best to the table, one must listen to the criticism and praise of the younger generation. Their feedback is not casual; it is measured and precise,” he noted.
The filmmaker also expressed how refreshing it was to work with a team full of new actors. He said the innocence and passion of the star cast added a special flavor to the project.
“This era is very rich. I tell my colleagues, people my age, that we must learn a lot from the younger generation. If we only feel that we have to teach them, then we are missing the point. Life speaks through their voices, and if we don’t listen, we are the ones who are truly deaf.”
Bhatt credited lyricist Shweta Bothra for being an integral part of the film’s journey. “It was my good fortune that Shweta was there throughout. She, along with the fascinating star cast, made this film a rich cinematic experience,” he added.
