Kangana Ranaut has drawn a bold comparison between her own journey and that of Bollywood’s biggest superstar, Shah Rukh Khan.

Speaking at a PHDCCI event in Delhi, the ‘Queen’ actor said her rise in Bollywood came from much tougher circumstances than Shah Rukh’s.

“Why did I get so much success? There’s probably nobody else who came from a village and got such success in the mainstream,” she told the audience. “You talk about Shah Rukh Khan. He’s from Delhi, convent-educated. I was from a village that nobody would have even heard of, Bhamla. Maybe others may disagree, but I feel it’s because I am brutally honest. Not just with people but with myself too.”

Born and raised in Bhamla, a small town in Himachal Pradesh, she left home at just 15, chasing a dream that few from her background had dared to imagine. At 19, she made her Bollywood debut with ‘Gangster’. And since then, there’s been no looking back.

Her latest project, however, didn’t quite meet expectations. ‘Emergency’, the political drama in which she also played former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, struggled badly at the box office. But Kangana is already looking ahead. She’s now going to make her Hollywood debut with ‘Blessed Be the Evil’. The horror drama is ready to hit theatres next year.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan, whom she compared herself to, continues his reign as Bollywood’s ultimate star. After the massive success of ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, he’s gearing up for ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film will feature him alongside his daughter, Suhana Khan, marking her first major collaboration with her father.

The cast also includes Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, and Raghav Juyal, with a release planned for the end of next year.
