According to Karuna, Guru Dutt would often write letters to Geeta Dutt when he was away for work, whether it was for film scripts or location scouting. In his letters, he would mention his return to Mumbai and suggest they go on a holiday together.

As time passed, communication between the two became more direct. Karuna explained that after their separation, Guru Dutt would speak with Geeta Dutt over the phone. Despite the distance in their relationship, they still maintained a bond, though it was no longer the same as before.

Guru Dutt, who was popular for his melancholic films, led a troubled personal life. His films often explored themes of love, loneliness, and longing; feelings he seemed to experience in his own life. His marriage to Geeta Dutt, as well as his early death at the age of 39, left many questions about his personal happiness and struggles.

To celebrate his centenary, six of his classic films, including ‘Pyaasa’, ‘Baaz’, ‘Chaudhvin Ka Chand’, and ‘Mr. & Mrs. 55’, have been restored and are being screened in theatres across India.
