Alia Bhatt, who will be seen in the forthcoming film Kalank in the year 2019, has already got thumbs up from filmmaker Karan Johar, the producer of the film.

Karan feels that Alia has done a wonderful job in multi-starrer period drama.

The director who launched the actress in Bollywood with Student Of The Year says he got emotional after seeing her performance.

He talked about Alia’s performance in Kalank during the show, No Filter Neha, hosted by actress Neha Dhupia.

“I saw something that Alia had done in ‘Kalank’ and I was just so moved by the work she had done,” Karan said.

“I won’t disclose what it is (but) she has done something in the film. You know when I see Alia I get that feeling like I’m seeing my daughter perform. And because I have that emotion for her I just started crying in the end for some weird reason. I’m going through something internally which I’m not aware of and I just got very teary. And I rang her up and said her I got very emotional, well done,” he added.

Kalank is an epic drama set in the 1940s, conceptualised by the filmmaker and his late father Yash Johar almost 15 years ago.

Earlier, speaking about the film in an interview with Hindustan Times, he said, “Kalank has been an emotional journey for me. A gem of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago, a film that was in pre-production stage by my father. I am proud to pass it on capable and visionary director Abhishek”.

Being helmed by Abhishek Varman, the film marks the comeback of Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sanjay Dutt on the screen together. Kalank also features Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha in pivotal roles. It is slated to release on 19 April 2019.
