Bollywood’s latest spy action blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’ just got a major boost from the Ladakh Administration. The Office of the Lt Governor, Ladakh, announced on social media that Lt Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta has declared the film tax-free in the Union Territory.

The move comes as a nod to the movie’s extensive shooting across Ladakh’s breathtaking landscapes and is part of the UT’s strategy to encourage filmmakers and promote tourism.

‘The Administration is also working on a New Film Policy. It will provide full support to film productions in Ladakh,’ the official post added.

‘Dhurandhar’ emerges as a box office sensation

Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ has been a massive hit at the box office smashing several records across late 2025 and early 2026. The spy thriller has already crossed Rs 1,100 crore worldwide.

Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film brings together an ensemble cast featuring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun.

‘Dhurandhar’ is the first part of a two-part film series, chronicling an undercover agent’s high-stakes mission to infiltrate Karachi’s criminal and political underworld.

The story intertwines fiction with real-life geopolitical events. These include the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, 2001 Indian Parliament attack, 2008 Mumbai attacks. In addition, there are aspects of Operation Lyari, giving it a gripping, edge-of-the-seat narrative.
