Lately, many female actors, producers, directors, and other professionals have opened up about their horrific experiences of sexual harassment and physical abuse.

Bollywood celebrities Sonam Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna, Farhan Akhtar, and Priyanka Chopra have come out strongly in support of the #MeToo movement in the film industry.

The latest to enter the scene is Fanney Khan actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who has come out to support the complainants. Aishwarya is happy with India having its own #MeToo movement. She said, “I think it is a good sign how the #MeToo movement is gaining momentum. However, I would refrain to comment on any specific case as that would be irresponsible on our part. At least some of these cases would become sub judice soon. So, I don’t think it would be proper to talk about any particular incident.”

“The #MeToo movement has been the need of the hour since time immemorial and I hope together we keep the momentum going. At the same time, if a case gets sub judice, we have to respect the law of the land.”

The movement gained momentum after actor Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her on the sets of Horn OK Pleassss (2009).
