Most films entertain. Some change how you see the world. Adil Hussain says ’52 Blue’ belongs to the second kind. It will create empathy for the characters, the situation, and the story.

Actor Adil Hussain is preparing for the screening of his film ‘52 Blue’ at the London Indian Film Festival. Speaking to IANS ahead of the screening, he said the film will compel people to look at life differently and generate a significant amount of empathy among its audiences.

What Adil said about the film

Adil was specific about what he believes 52 Blue can do for the people who watch it. He said cinema of this nature introduces audiences to the nuances of a particular group of people in a way that goes beyond surface-level storytelling.

“When the story manages to sort of penetrate the deeper realities of each and every character or situation from a particular part of the world, then it is almost as if you have visited that country,” he told IANS.

He drew a parallel between watching a film and actually travelling to a place. His argument was that both experiences can dissolve prejudice and replace it with understanding.

“Those who watch it, it’s almost like once you have gone to a country which you are made to hate and then you meet people there and you realize, ‘Oh, my God, these are the similar kind of people,'” he said.

He then connected that idea directly to the film. “52 Blue will create a huge amount of empathy amongst the people, those who watch it, for the characters, for the situation, for the storyline. And that will serve the purpose of the film,” Adil said.

FIFA World Cup and a personal aside

Adil Hussain had also recently spoken about the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026, jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The actor was in the United States for a personal commitment during the tournament but was unable to attend any of the matches. He had commented on the poor performance put up by the host nation USA at the tournament.
