‘120 Bahadur’ film box office rollercoaster: Will the Farhan Akhtar-starrer be this month’s blockbuster?
‘120 Bahadur’ film surprises audiences and the box office alike, rising from a slow Friday start to a weekend hit. The war drama, based on the true story of 120 brave soldiers, has earned over Rs 10 crore in just three days.
After an average start on Friday, Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated war film ‘120 Bahadur’ marked a phenomenal comeback over the weekend. The movie based on the heroic story of 120 Indian soldiers of Charlie Company led by Major Shaitan Singh during the 1962 Sino-Indian War apparently has clicked very well with the audience.
The ensemble cast has been critically praised for merging with the story and bringing alive this legendary wartime chapter on screen. Director Razneesh Razy Ghai’s vision has clearly struck a chord.

A rocky start on Friday
The film opened on Friday, November 21, and garnered Rs 2.25 crore. Though a decent amount, the number was lesser than expected and raised several questions over the ability of the film to create ripples at the box office.

By comparison, ‘Mastiii 4’, starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani, fared marginally better at Rs 2.75 crore on the opening day.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn’s age-gap romantic comedy ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, already in its second week, held steady with Rs 2.25 crore.
Saturday brings a surge
Things turned dramatically on Saturday. ‘120 Bahadur’ saw a huge 71% jump and collected Rs 3.85 crore. The growing popularity of this film suggested that word-of-mouth was working its magic.
Unfortunately, ‘Mastiii 4’ couldn’t capitalise on its opening and remained stuck at Rs 2.75 crore. ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ however continued to show a good run with a collection of Rs 4 crore.
Sunday’s triumph
Sunday sealed the weekend success for ‘120 Bahadur’. The film added another Rs 4 crore to its earnings marking a steady 4% growth from Saturday.
While ‘Mastiii 4’ only showed a slight increase to Rs 3 crore on Sunday, it falls way behind the rise of ‘120 Bahadur’, whereas ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ remained the crowd favourite with the addition of Rs 8.5 crore, thereby taking its ten-day collection to a commendable Rs 60 crore.

Why 120 Bahadur is winning hearts
The success of ‘120 Bahadur’ seems to be powered by something more than star power. Audiences have clearly responded to the film’s grounded approach to storytelling.
The sets were never built. The cameras never rolled. Yet 'Don 3' has managed to become one of Bollywood's most dramatic productions, playing out not on screen, but in boardrooms, federation offices, and now, in a phone call from Salman Khan.
FWICE issued a Non-Cooperation Directive against Ranveer Singh after Farhan Akhtar raised concerns over his exit from ‘Don 3’, while the actor’s team called the dispute contractual and said the matter should not be handled through the federation.
A blockbuster franchise. A collapsed deal. And now, an industry-wide ban. Ranveer Singh's exit from 'Don 3' has snowballed from a behind-closed-doors creative dispute with Farhan Akhtar into one of Bollywood's most public professional fallouts in years.
