Bengali films are emerging as a surprise at the box office by scoring good figures. The films are not only successful at the box office but are also widely appreciated by the critics.

Chander Pahar is a 2013 Indian adventure drama film based on the novel of the same name. The film is the most successful film in Bengali cinema as it earned more than Rs.20 crore at the box office. Also, the film is considered as actor Dev’s most notable performance.

Boss 2: Back to Rule is a 2017 India-Bangladesh joint production and is a sequel to the hit film, Boss. The film that started on a slow pace managed to earn good figures at the box office eventually and stands with a double digit figure at the box office. The film earned Rs.10.50 crore (approx)

Paglu is a romantic comedy film, which is a remake of Telugu film, Devadasu. The film featuring Bengali actors, Dev and Keol Mallick in the lead, earned Rs.9.95 crore in its run at the box office.

Saathi: The film was released in 2002 and went on to become one of the highest grossing movies of the year. The film was appreciated for its songs and plot and became a turning point in actor Jeet’s career, as his character gave him a huge fan following and became the highest paid actor in Bengal. The film earned Rs.9.80 crore at the box office.

Paran Jai Jaliya Re: The film, which stars Dev and Subhashree Ganguly in the lead, was a remake of Bollywood film Namastey London. The film was lauded by the fans and critics despite the lawsuit controversy and earned Rs.9.50 crore at the box office.
