Popular Tajikistani singer and social media sensation Abdu Rozik has landed in the headlines again, this time for reasons far from his usual viral charm.
On Saturday morning, Rozik was detained by authorities at Dubai International Airport shortly after arriving from Montenegro. The news was confirmed by his management to ‘Khaleej Times’.

According to his team, the 20-year-old was taken into custody around 5 am. The exact details of why remain unclear. But the company representing Rozik said the allegations are about theft.
So far, Dubai authorities have not issued any official statement, and the nature of the complaint remains confidential.
“All we can say at this time is that Abdu has been taken into custody on allegations of theft. We’re not in a position to share more,” a spokesperson for Rozik told the media.
Abdu Rozik is no stranger to fame or controversy. Rising from humble beginnings in Tajikistan, Rozik’s story has captured the hearts of millions. Born with a growth condition that left him physically small but vocally powerful, Rozik became a household name through his folk songs and social media content.
His renditions of Tajik hits like ‘Ohi Dili Zor’, ‘Chaki Chaki Boron’, and ‘Modar’ won him a massive following in Central Asia and beyond.
But his popularity wasn’t just in music. In 2021, Rozik famously challenged Russian social media personality Hasbulla Magomedov to an MMA fight. This stunt went viral but later shut down by the Russian Dwarf Athletic Association, who called the idea unethical.
Rozik’s fame expanded into India when he joined the reality show ‘Bigg Boss 16’ in 2022, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about contestants of the season.
That same year, he sang the beloved Hindi classic ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ at the IIFA Awards in Abu Dhabi. He dedicated the performance to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
Rozik also made his acting debut in the Bollywood film ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’. He appeared briefly on ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’ as a guest.
This isn’t the first time Rozik has faced scrutiny from legal authorities. In 2024, he was reportedly questioned by India’s Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering probe involving a hospitality firm.
