“Bharat” be used in place of “India” in school textbooks: NCERT panel
The name Bharat is ancient. According to Isaac, the term "Bharat" is used in books as old as the 7,000-year-old Vishnu Purana
The NCERT constituted a committee to prepare study materials in Kui and Desia languages to attract students in remote tribal areas of Odisha.
The committee will collaborate with the Central University of Odisha, Koraput and develop the study materials.
The committee is headed by Prof BK Panda, project director, center of excellence for studies in classical Odia.
