A youth was allegedly beaten to death over minor issues by a man in the area of North-West District, when he went there to meet his brother-in-law at a factory.

The incident took place in the Jahangirpuri area on Sunday evening, after which the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Sharif (25), who hailed from Pilibhit, UP.

On the statement of the family of the deceased, a case of culpable homicide has been registered.

During investigation, a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Jahangirpuri Rajesh Kumar arrested one of the accused named Hafiz in the incident.

A police official said that the deceased Sharif used to reside in the Alipore area of Delhi. His family consists of parents and his wife, with whom he got married about four years ago.

Initial inquiry revealed that the incident is of Sunday evening, when Sharif had gone to meet his brother-in-law named Rasool Islam at a bag making factory located in Block-C, Jahangirpuri. Sharif too used to work in the
same factory earlier.

As per sources, Sharif had an altercation with Hafiz over some issue, while Sharif was talking to his old acquaintances present there. In anger, Hafiz started beating him in anger leaving him unconscious. Sharif was immediately admitted to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

The police have arrested the accused Hafiz and interrogated him. Police are also waiting for the post mortem report to know the exact reason for the death.
