Four government teachers escaped a near-death experience at Ramnagar in Nainital district on Monday when their car gout caught in the middle of the swollen Dhangiri ‘Nullah’.

The teachers, who were in a haste to reach their school at Marchula in Almora, took the risk of crossing Dhangiri. As their car reached the middle of the nullah, swirling waters started pushing the vehicle deep into the stream.

Concerned villagers joined hands in the rescue operation and a tractor was deployed to pull the car to safety. As the tractor reached near the car, the furious flow of water floated the car away creating a crisis situation. But the tractor managed to pull the car out of the strong currents.
