Malviya Nagar fire tragedy: Delhi Police arrest hotel owner after blaze kills 21
The development comes hours after the fire broke out at the multi-storey building in South Delhi.
The incident took place on Old Rohtak Road, where the victim, Ronit Karati, was targeted by two men on a motorcycle who snatched his Samsung S21 phone and fled.

Delhi Police’s North District has arrested two individuals involved in a mobile phone snatching incident in Gulabi Bagh. The accused were apprehended after the complainant tracked the location of his stolen device using a laptop.
The incident took place on Old Rohtak Road, where the victim, Ronit Karati, was targeted by two men on a motorcycle who snatched his Samsung S21 phone and fled.

Karati, with the help of a friend, traced the phone to the vicinity of Pratap Nagar Metro Station and managed to apprehend one suspect, Arjun Sareen, along with the motorcycle used in the crime. His accomplice, Rohit, initially escaped.

A dedicated police team from Post Andha Mughal subsequently launched a search operation. Acting on information provided by Sareen, they arrested the main accused, Rohit, late at night near the Kishanganj Railway Line.
Police revealed that Rohit, a habitual offender in the area, was attempting to sell the stolen phone to buy an expensive gift for his wife on their wedding anniversary. The mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
Commenting on the operation, DCP North District Raja Banthia, IPS, said, “Our team acted swiftly on local intelligence to apprehend the fleeing accused. The arrests underscore our commitment to curbing street crime in the area.”
The police confirmed that the stolen mobile phone and the motorcycle used in the offence have been seized. Further investigation is underway.
