A constable of Uttar Pradesh Police was suspended after a video allegedly showing him brutally beating a rickshaw-puller went viral on social media. The cop was captured on video beating the hapless victim on the side of a busy street.

The cop, identified as Anand Pratap Singh, was reportedly seen in the video dragging the rickshaw-puller by his hair and then kicking him repeatedly.

According to reports, Singh beat up the victim for allegedly blocking the way of a police control room (PCR) van. The incident happened on 22 August at the busy Engineering College Chauraha.

NewsX reports that the PRV in-charge, too, has been suspended over the incident.

Reports say that the accused constable is posted at the Madiyaon police station in Lucknow and is a member of the Dial-100 squad.
