Two teenagers were arrested for their alleged involvement in robbery and vehicle theft in Ranhola, West Delhi, the Delhi Police said on Monday.

Both 19-year-olds, identified as Harsh and Ashish, were involved in a series of robberies and vehicle thefts. They used the stolen vehicles to commit robberies and snatchings at knife-point and gunpoint.

“Harsh and Ashish used to target lone victims and threaten them with a country-made pistol or knife. They would loot money to buy drugs and stay in hotels to maintain a luxurious lifestyle,” said Sachin Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).

The incident came to light when the complainant’s sister video-called the snatched mobile number, which was answered by the accused. During the conversation, she managed to capture their screenshots.

As part of the investigation, the screenshots of the alleged person were examined closely to develop further leads in this case.

Subsequently, on Sunday, during patrolling in the area, the police noticed two suspicious individuals riding a motorcycle without a numberplate near Nala Road, behind Shudhanshu Aashram, Bakkarwala.

When they were signalled to stop, the duo attempted to flee by accelerating. However, the cops chased them and intercepted the motorcycle after a brief pursuit.

They confiscated five stolen motorcycles that were linked to multiple e-FIRs registered across different police stations in Delhi, one stolen auto-rickshaw, a country-made pistol with one live cartridge, and a button knife from their possession.

An FIR against the duo has been registered, and further investigation into this case is ongoing.
