The police have arrested two Bangladeshi women from South West Delhi’s Cantt area for residing illegally in the city, they said on Tuesday.
The duo, Doli Begum (37), originally from Sukhtail Village in Gopalganj, and Morium Akhtar (28), from Choudhary Gaon village in Dhaka, were found residing without valid documents in the National Capital.

“We were tipped off with info about the presence of two women in the area. Acting on details received, a team of cops approached the suspected individuals in the Delhi Cantt area and conducted a thorough inquiry,” said Amit Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police.
He continued by saying that the two failed to produce valid documents when asked to and eventually admitted to being natives of Bangladesh.
The duo further told the police that they entered India in 2023 through the Bangaon border and Tripura state via illegal means. They kept looking for jobs in housekeeping in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi but were unable to secure suitable employment.
The officer said while conducting a search of their mobile phones and social media accounts, their identity documents, including national ID cards of Bangladesh, were recovered.
After completing the legal formalities, their deportation process has been initiated. They will be taken to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
Stating about the police action, Goel stated, “The detained will be produced before the FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office), Delhi’s R K Puram, for their deportation process.”
“Their background checks are also being conducted to rule out any criminal links,” he added.
Moreover, the team of Delhi Police has initiated a drive to get a hold on illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who overstayed in India without any valid documentation, and the crackdown is ongoing, said the DCP.
Further investigation is underway while efforts are on to deport these illegal immigrants, the DCP stated.
