While the student’s formal statement is yet to be recorded, counselling is ongoing. Now that an FIR has been filed in the case, the matter is being examined, said the police.

The charges filed in the case include attempted gang rape, sexual assault, and other related offences. The identities of the accused have not been disclosed as the investigation remains at a crucial stage.

The management of the university stated that it is working closely with authorities and remains committed to upholding student safety and legal obligations. Students are staging protests on the campus as the incident has exposed shortcomings in South Asian University’s internal security systems.

They raised serious concerns over lack of CCTV coverage and adequate lighting in several areas on the campus, especially those under construction. According to several students, the areas on campus neglected by the authorities are unsafe. While the university promotes its security systems and surveillance, key locations remain unmonitored and vulnerable, They alleged.

Their protests underscore a demand for immediate security audits and stronger safeguards, particularly in neglected or developing campus zones.
