Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Sunday laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects in the Pankha Road area of Janakpuri.

Officials noted that with a budget of Rs 5.5 crore, the area will be revamped through the construction of a new drain and adjoining infrastructure, including a toe wall and pavement. The project also includes the installation of streetlights and landscaping of service lanes and nearby areas, as part of the restoration work undertaken by the Delhi government in the West Delhi locality.

Flagging off the work, Sood, the current MLA from the area, said that for decades, the voices of Janakpuri residents were ignored by the earlier MLAs. But now the constituency is witnessing a ‘wave of change’.

He lauded the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi Government for “not only listening to the people’s problems but also working tirelessly at multiple levels to deliver real solutions.”

The Delhi Education Minister highlighted daily adversities faced by the residents of Janakpuri, Vikaspuri, Uttam Nagar, Najafgarh, and Nangloi, including accidents caused by open drains, garbage, stray animals, and broken roads.

He further added that taking suo motu cognisance of filth, poor infrastructure, and unsafe conditions in the region, Delhi Chief Minister has now commenced work to transform the entire stretch into a clean and beautiful area, improving the civic infrastructure.

Taking a dig at the previous MLA, Sood said that Janakpuri lagged behind other parts of Delhi due to a lack of meaningful work by the last MLA, who is spreading misinformation among the residents, and urged the locals to remain vigilant against false propaganda.
