Dozen Bangladeshi infiltrators sent to new holding centres in Bengal
A dozen Bangladeshi nationals were sent to two newly set up holding centres in West Bengal till Monday allegedly for entering the country without valid documents.
The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday organised a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Khalpara at Haldibari in Cooch Behar to honour the martyrs of the 1971 war.

The event was attended by Rajni Lhamo Sherpa, Commandant of the 130 Battalion; Kashyap Roy, inspector-in-charge of Haldibari police station; BDO of Haldibari Block; and local village leaders.
In a gesture of gratitude, the BSF presented gifts to Premanand Mandal, who donated land for the war memorial; Asim Roy and the grandson of Sarat Chandra Roy, who donated land for the Khalpara Border Outpost (BOP); and Charandasi Mandal, a local resident injured during the 1971 conflict.

The ceremony reflected the BSF’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices of soldiers and the contributions of local villagers, reinforcing the strong bond between the force and the border community.
