Earlier, the Chief Minister, while attending a program in Hamirpur, had telephonically informed the Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the incident and requested him to send the NDRF team in view of the safety of the tourists.

The Chief Minister himself reached Parwanoo from Hamirpur after getting information about the accident.

He took detailed information about this incident from the officers present on the spot and the Hotel management.

The Chief Minister interacted with all 11 people safely rescued and inquired about their well-being. He assured that appropriate steps would be taken to ensure that such incidents do not reoccur.

Jai Ram Thakur also interacted with the hotel staff and team of NDRF personnel who played a vital role in the rescue work on the occasion and thanked them for saving valuable human lives.

The 11 tourists, all residents of Delhi, had got stuck between life and death at a height of more than 100 ft in the cable car in the air for five hours, after a technical snag. The tourists included six men and five women, aged between 47 years and 52 years.

As the rescue operation was going on, traffic on the Kalka-Shimla highway was stopped, which led to long queues on both sides of the highway.

This is the second such incident at the Timber trail. Earlier in October 1992 , 11 people including a child got stuck in the cable car of the Timber trail.

During that time a trolley attendant Gulam Hussain jumped to death.
