A petrol bomb was hurled at the office of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) on Tuesday morning by unidentified persons.
The police said that no one was injured in the incident which occurred at around 8 am in Shillong.
“The attackers hurled a petrol bomb inside the room of MPSC Secretary WAM Booth. We are still investigating into the incident,” Superintendent of Police (Shillong City), Stephan Rynjah told IANS.

Cases of petrol bomb throwing have been reported from the state previously as well. In April this year, miscreants targeted the home of Patricia Mukhim, the editor of The Shillong Times, with a petrol bomb.
The Shillong Times had reported that two motorcycle-borne men, whose faces were covered, were seen hurling the petrol bomb at her house.
Tuesday’s incident comes at a time when Home Minister Rajnath Singh is visiting Shillong to chair the 67th North Eastern Council plenary session in the Meghalaya capital. The first day of the two-day session, which began on Monday, was attended by Governors and Chief Ministers of Northeastern states.
The Home Minister called for better security in the Northeast saying that “India cannot be happy if the Northeast is unhappy”. On Tuesday, he urged the Northeastern states to improve law-order in the “prevailing peaceful scenario” assuring that Centre will provide “all possible assistance”.
