In a tragic incident in Delhi, a woman died after being allegedly set on fire by her husband in Rohini’s Begumpur, the police said on Tuesday.

On Monday, a PCR call was received at police station Begum Pur regarding a house fire. The caller also informed the police that some people were trapped inside the house.

Wasting no time, a police team immediately reached the spot and found the main gate locked from inside. In the meantime, a fire brigade team arrived at the location and brought the blaze under control.

Soon after, the tragedy began to unfold when the inspection of the house was initiated by the cops and the fire team, and a critically burnt woman was found inside the house in an unresponsive state. When she was taken to the hospital, doctors declared her dead before sending her body for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the police received another call from a different hospital about an injured person with his children. With this, the mystery behind the woman’s death began to unfold as the police team, on reaching the said hospital, learned that the injured person related to the second call was none other than the husband of the woman who died of burns.

Talking to the cops, one of the daughters of the deceased admitted to the hospital said that her father had had a fight with her mother last night and set her on fire using kerosene oil.

Based on the statement of the daughter of the victim, the police registered a case in this regard under section 302 of the IPC and initiated an investigation.
