The Shahdara District Police on Sunday said they solved a Rs 16.5 lakh gunpoint robbery case within 24 hours, arresting one accused and recovering Rs 2.5 lakh of the stolen cash. They also seized the scooter allegedly used in the crime and a motorcycle purchased with part of the stolen money.
Additional DCP (Shahdara) Sikandar Singh said the swift investigation, aided by CCTV analysis, technical surveillance and field intelligence, led to the arrest of one accused and the recovery of crucial evidence. He said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused and recover the rest of the stolen amount.

According to the police, the complainant, a collection executive with a private firm in Gandhi Nagar, had collected around Rs 16.5 lakh from various business establishments. As he reached outside his office, two armed men allegedly arrived on a scooter, threatened him at gunpoint and fled with the cash bag, along with his Aadhaar card and bank passbook.
During the investigation, police analysed CCTV footage and traced the getaway scooter despite its rear registration plate having been removed. Technical surveillance and local enquiries led to the arrest of Alfaid, 22, near Jafrabad Metro Station.
Police alleged that during interrogation, Alfaid disclosed that the robbery was planned by Ashu, who had conducted surveillance of the complainant’s daily cash collection routine and allegedly coordinated the operation. Another associate, Krishna, is also alleged to have participated in the robbery.
Police said Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, the TVS Ntorq scooter allegedly used in the robbery, a Yamaha R-15 motorcycle allegedly purchased with part of the stolen money, the removed rear number plate of the scooter, clothes allegedly worn during the offence and other incriminating documents were recovered.
Police said raids are underway to apprehend Ashu and Krishna, while further investigation into the case is in progress.
