Delhi Cabinet Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said timely provision of basic amenities to all colonies, particularly in underdeveloped and Scheduled Caste-dominated areas, is the priority of the government.

During an interaction with the residents Shahabad Daulatpur Dairy on Thursday, he said the government is, for the first time, making comprehensive efforts to achieve the objective.

The social welfare minister of Delhi claimed that for the first time comprehensive efforts are being made to ensure basic facilities and improve the slums and JJ colonies in the national capital.

The minister further said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the welfare of the poor, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has given clear directives to the concerned officials and departments regarding development of the slums clusters, ensuring basic facilities for the poor, and an overall rehabilitation of slum areas, the people living their lead a dignified life.

Indraj emphasized that cleanliness, health, and dignity are the rights of every citizen, and driven by this very belief, Delhi government is constructing paved roads, proper drainage, and clean lanes across all such settlements.

On the occasion, the minister dedicated the completed construction works of drains and roads at an area under the Shahbad Daulatpur Dairy, part of the Bawana assembly constituency.

He mentioned that the ongoing development in the said area is a significant step towards the objective.

The minister directed officials to prepare plans for pending works where required and ensure that ongoing works are completed with high quality and within a time frame.

The cabinet minister also noted that, in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, the state government has launched the “Freedom from Garbage – Cleanliness Campaign,” which he said is not just a government initiative, but a people’s movement.

He urged residents to volunteer their efforts and keep their neighborhoods, colonies, and parks clean.

Indraj also informed that the Delhi government’s Swachhata (Cleanliness) Portal is now open to every Resident Welfare Association (RWA), and now these committees can upload photos and details of cleanliness-related activities in their respective areas.
