Congress has demanded reducing VAT on Petrol and Diesel to bring down prices in order to provide relief to the common man.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) Media Cell Chairman Naresh Chauhan blaming the Narendra Modi led NDA government for escalating prices demanded that they should provide some respite to the public.
He said that the common man is already burdened due to increase in prices of Petrol and Diesel and this increase of is also affecting hike in freight charges, which is making other commodities expensive.

“The Himachal government has assured the private bus operators of increasing bus fares by 22 per cent. It the government approves it in the cabinet, this will be the highest ever increase in the state till date, as none of the previous governments in the state has so far hiked the bus fares by 22 per cent,” he said.
The state government instead of increasing the bus fares should reduce VAT on Petrol and diesel, he added.
Lambasting the central government, Chauhan said that the incumbent government had not brought about reduction of prices of petrol and diesel, even when the oil prices had come down in the international market.
Chauhan said the recent victory of Congress in Kangra Zila Parishad by poll is a glimpse of the angst of the public against the Bharatiya Janata Party government, he said, adding that a similar fate of BJP will be witnessed in the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. The public cannot be be-fooled by false promises every time, he added.
