The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘yellow alert’ for Delhi on Friday after heavy rainfall lashed several parts of the National Capital and the NCR.

According to the IMD, a ‘yellow alert’ signifies the possibility of moderate rainfall and advises residents to remain alert. Officials urged people to stay indoors due to the changing weather conditions.

Meteorological department officials stated that light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds ranging from 30 to 50 km/h, is likely to occur at several locations across the Delhi-NCR region in the coming hours.

The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 34.3°C and 23.6°C, respectively.

Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi remained in the “satisfactory” category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 60, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
