Verma took stock of the operations and interacted with engineers, and the staff to understand the end-to-end process of how raw debris is turned into usable construction materials.
He highlighted how such efforts directly reflect the broader national vision of a “Waste to Wealth” model, and the principles of a Circular Economy. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the vision of ‘Waste to Wealth’ and a circular economy is becoming a ground reality. The Bakkarwala plant is a living example of how construction debris can be turned into valuable resources,” he added.
He said the government’s aim is to establish similar plants across the national capital so that the city could become cleaner while also reducing the cost and environmental impact of construction.
He also directed officials to identify other high-waste zones across the city for setting up similar C&D waste processing units.
He stressed the need for coordination between municipal bodies, private developers, and public departments to ensure systematic collection, segregation, and reuse of construction waste.
Verma encouraged increased use of recycled construction materials in both public infrastructure and private real estate projects.
